Preliminary report published by Lorenzo Fortunati on the discovery of the “Basilica di Santo Stefano Protomartire” on the Via Latina. Fortunati, with a team of 54 workers, carried out excavations in 1857-58 in the Tenuta “del Corvo” or “Arco di Travertino”, a property belonging to the Barberini-Lante della Rovere and Belardi families. The campaign resulted in the identification of the early Christian basilica dedicated to Saint Stephen Protomartyr.
